Benjamin Armstrong at the 19th Biennale of Sydney

Belated congratulations to Benjamin Armstrong for his inclusion in the 19th Biennale of Sydney: You Imagine What You Desire, curated by Juliana Engberg. His new plaster and encaustic sculptures were shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Ben Armstrong and Jane O’Neill in Australian Art Collector

If you haven’t already seen it, the April–June issue of Australian Art Collector has Benjamin Armstrong on the cover with an 8-page section featuring his work including new mandrake sculptures of plywood and steel. Ben is also currently exhibiting in a group show at Anna Schwartz Gallery, Sydney and a solo show at Tolarno Galleries, Melbourne.
The same issue has an interview with Austral Avenue editor Jane O’Neill about her gallery and book. The pull quote reads: “I have very few qualms about logistically challenging works. Good hangers are magicians and children can be trained.”

Ben Armstrong in Beijing and Hong Kong

Benjamin Armstrong is part of an upcoming group exhibition in Beijing—A First Life Residency Project in Landscape (Cang Xin, Shi Jinsong, Wu Daxin, Sam Leach, Tony Lloyd and Benjamin Armstrong)—at Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art (15 May until until the end of June). His new Chinese ink drawings will also be showing at Tolarno Galleries’ booth at the Hong Kong Art Fair (26–29 May 2011).

Benjamin Armstrong book launch

Our inaugural publication Benjamin Amstrong: Holding a Thread was launched by Alan Dodge at Tolarno Galleries on Saturday 7 August 2010. It coincided with Armstrong’s solo exhibition at Tolarno Galleries—Walking backwards to the place I come from—and the weekend of the Melbourne Art Fair.
