Austral Avenue: An Experiment in
Living with Art

Austral Avenue: An Experiment in Living with Art documents the life span of an experimental project space operated by Jane O’Neill from the front room of a home in Brunswick, Melbourne. For each of the 21 exhibitions by contemporary artists from Australia and overseas, an essay was written that incorporated the experience of living with the artworks for the show’s duration.

Artists featured in the book include: Daniel Argyle, John Aslanidis, Jay Balbi & Elizabeth Pulie, Cathy Blanchflower, Mishka Borowski, Sadie Chandler, Catherine Clover, Peter Crocker, Julian Dashper, Nameer Davis & Barbara Penrose, Christopher Dean, Andreas Exner, Michael Graf, Ry Haskings, Andrew Hurle, Gerold Miller, Jane O’Neill, Lisa Radford, Bridget Ralph, Stephen Ralph and the Sydney Non Objective Group (SNO).

Jane O’Neill is an active participant in the contemporary art community as a curator, writer and artist. She is best known for curatorial projects set in unconventional spaces, such as Louise Paramor’s Show Court 3 at the Rod Laver Arena in 2007. O’Neill is currently employed as the in-house curator for the Art Series Hotels Group in Melbourne. She recently established a walking tour operation in and clomid over the counter around the Melbourne CBD called Art Aficionado.

Austral Avenue acknowledges the support of Moreland City Council through the Community Development Grants Program, as well as SNO and Ocular Lab.
